Canadian Real Estate Market seems to be doing better than the US

"We are satisfied with our operating performance so far in 2009, particularly given this difficult economy. CREIT is very well positioned to withstand the impacts of this recession and to take advantage of new opportunities that may emerge." Stephen Johnson (CEO)

  • CREIT owns a portfolio in excess of 160 retail, office and industrial properties.
  • Funds from Operations (FFO) increased by 8% in Q1 2009 compared to Q1 2008.

Based on CREIT’s earnings and a number of Canadian REITs I have followed, the Canadian market seems to be showing better stability in the real estate market, this is probably because the credit markets are not as tight over there as they are here.
