China April retail sales +14.8% YoY in April

• Retail sales were up 14.8% on year in April to 934.32 billion Yuan, slightly better than the 14.7% economist estimates.
• Between January and April, retail sales were up 15% to 3.874 trillion Yuan
• Urban retail sales gained 13.9% to 632.96 billion Yuan, rural retail sales added 16.7% to 301.36 billion Yuan.
• Among individual components YoY:
• Food sales +9.2%
• Apparel +13.9%
• Grain +4.8%
• Meat +6.5%
• Sports +5%
• Daily use items +13.7%
• Appliances +0.6%
• Furniture +22.8%
• Cosmetics +18.2%
• Jewelry +10.4%
• Auto related goods +18.5%
• Oil +0.3%
• Building materials +10.8%
• Communications equipment –8.4%
